Introduction to the new White Horse Vale!

At long last, the kingdom of White Horse Vale has been re-founded :) Originally I was going to write this introduction as Chapter One, but decided that not enough had really happened to make it a "proper" chapter. So I thought instead that I’d introduce the families and leave the first chapter until the children have grown into teenagers. Although the family names (and founders’ aspirations) are the same as they were the first time round, I’ve decided to include the children of generation two in the introductions this time - they were all born in-game, rather than created with their parents in CAS.

Once again the Montgomery family are the rulers of White Horse Vale, headed by Charles and Sophia:

Charles and Sophia’s family began with twin daughters, Olivia (on the bed with blue flowers) and Charlotte. Olivia is the eldest:

Of course I was as disappointed as the king and queen that they didn’t have a son straightaway, so once the girls became toddlers they decided to try again and this time they were successful - meet Louis:

*makes a note to test the lighting next time she has to take pictures at night - the first was too bright, the second too dark :( *

The Knight family is the kingdom’s only noble family (I thought it would be easier to keep track of everyone if I only started with one family of each class this time, and the founders are William and Elizabeth:

WHV Intro Knight1

Their eldest child is a daughter, Hannah, followed by a son and heir Edward:

Thomas and Susanna Chandler are the founders of the merchant family, and they have a son named George:

Last but not least we have the peasant family, headed by Bill and Molly Gardener. They also one son, named Jack:

That concludes our "Who’s Who" of White Horse Vale :) I’ll be working on the text for Chapter One over the next few weeks, whilst playing the families so that all of the children grow into teenagers (as mentioned at the start of this post). With "Seasons" due for release here in England on 2nd March, that will mean Chapter One should be posted towards the end of March. A couple of things to point out as far as further chapters are concerned:

1) all NPCs and Townies will have default skintones and eyes by Enayla at MTS2

2) whenever a new expansion or stuff pack is released I now move any saved families into empty lots and save them to my desktop - that way I don’t end up with duplicate copies of wall and floor coverings, which also means that I don’t have to delete the doubles and risk crashing the royal palace (which is why the first attempt at White Horse Vale went askew)! Therefore the decor used in the houses at the moment will more than likely not be the same as that used in Chapter One, unless of course I happen to remember which wallcoverings etc I’d used in each room :D

That’s all folks!

  1. What a great start (or should I say restart =). You have some really cute kids to play around with… I love the hairstyles. Can’t wait to see what they look like when they growup and who falls in love with who.

  4. Hi there! I found this link through someone or other, and am glad you finally updated! I’m anxious to read this Royal Kingdom because I so do love the historical look you’ve gone with. Not to mention what I’ve seen of your custom content rocks. ^.^ It’ll be hard to wait so long for the Chapter. I also use Enayla’s defaults in my game. Isn’t she awesome?

As for the EP Seasons, man I worry about it. Your points about saving your families before installation gave me a good guide on what to do. Thanks for that!
    And thanks for sharing!

  6. Thanks for the comments everyone - it’s great to be working on the challenge again :) I’m looking forward to Seasons a lot as I always like to have new career path to play with, and the journalism career in particular will be useful for another story I’ll be working on. And yes, the peasants will be very busy growing their own produce Carrie!

Klaries: I decided on the Regency period for the Challenge as I already had quite a lot of Victorian furniture that fits in well for that time. It also meant that I could get away with using a fair amount of colour on the walls and floors :)

jmw: I love Enayla’s skintones and eyes! I also downloaded the defaults of her alien, vampire and zombie skintones but haven’t had a chance to use them yet.

I’ll be adding a short post mid-week to list the aspirations of the founders’ and their children, together with a couple of extra pictures now that the two toddlers are children. I’m looking forward to seeing them all as adults though, as I’m always interested to see which parent’s features they inherit. I’ll include a list of where the cc is from as well, although a few of the skintones and hair were donation files from Sussi’s site before it closed.

    Happy Simming!

  8. Thanks Pandora :)

Fingers crossed everything should be okay with Seasons, as I’ve got a spare copy of all of my downloads saved on my desktop and the families will all be packaged to the same file. Hopefully it will be a simple case of installing the game again then adding families and downloads *crosses fingers extra early*
