End of the line

I’m afraid White Horse Vale is no more :( When the guys from generation three returned home from college they all refused to get married - each time I made them propose they kept jumping in the air (and not for joy), so it would appear that they were all suffering from the dreaded jump bug for some reason. It may have been due to the number of times I’d moved them all around as the new expansion packs were released, as each family had been causing problems occasionally whilst saving the lots. I’d killed off some of the elders to make room for the children that would be born into generation four, and had planned an epidemic of some kind as a reason for the deaths. Instead the whole kingdom, and that of Oakhampton, was thoroughly wiped out.

Chapter 4

It had been an unusally cold year in White Horse Vale, but the air outside was decidedly warm compared to the chill that hung over the dining room of the royal palace one morning in late September. Alfred, the youngest son of the king and queen, had always been used to getting his own way - he saw it as the one and only perk of being born to older parents. He knew that unless some tragedy befell his brother and heir to the throne, Louis, he’d never be king, so he was determined to make his own way in life. Unfortunately his parents didn’t always agree with the choices that he’d made, but they decided that it was better for him to learn from his mistakes as long as they were not costly to the family’s good name. However they had not prepared for Alfred’s latest bombshell.

Chapter 3

Life had been very quiet in the Gardener household since Jack had grown into a hardworking and well liked young man. With three sets of wages the family’s fortune was also improving, although it was still very modest compared to their neighbours’. Financial security had become very important to Jack, as he’d recently married a young nurse by the name of Brooke Wade and their first child was due within the next few months. It was his mother, Molly, who broke the news to him one hot summer morning, and the small cottage was a hive of activity as preparations were made for the new arrival.

Jack and Brooke’s first meeting was a blind date of sorts, but they formed an instant and unshakeable bond that strengthened every day they were together. Luckily for Jack his parents were very fond of Brooke, who was his first serious girlfriend, and they were thrilled when the young couple announced that they intended to marry. Their quiet but romantic wedding ceremony was followed by four days alone at the cottage, Bill and Molly having arranged to spend the time visiting Molly’s elderly aunt in the north of the kingdom.
